NBA Africa has finally been Launched
An eye-catching development as the National Basketball Association has announced the formation of the National Basketball Association of Africa (NBA Africa). This organization will oversee all the league and intercontinental basketball games in Africa. This also includes the management of the Basketball Africa League (BAL).
This announcement has been met with world worldwide appraisal, especially Africans as this provides a bigger opportunity for young basketball Athletes in the world of competitive basketball sports.
NBA Africa will include NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and Deputy Commissioner Mark Tatum, who will both serve on the board of Directors.
With plans to see NBA Africa develop magnificently, five former NBA players (Junior Bridgeman, Grant Hill, Joakim Noah, Congo native Dikembe Mutombo and South Sudan native Luol Deng) have joined the team as investors.
Commissioner Silver said the current enterprise value of NBA Africa is “nearly $1 billion,” However, amounts of the league and individual investments were not disclosed to the public.
The NBA Africa league said some of its primary goals are to grow the BAL (Basketball Africa League) and to introduce additional NBA colleges in Africa.
“The growth and development is something we’re all enormously proud of,” Silver said.
The NBA has played three summer exhibitions in Africa in recent years and there are hopes for more, but there are no firm plans yet to bring preseason or regular-season games to the continent.
